Julie Ira
Julie’s roots in San Francisco, California, have instilled in her a deep appreciation for the environment and commitment to sustainability. Her upbringing in the Bay Area laid the foundation for her passion, which has only grown stronger over the years. Julie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington, where she was involved in several sustainability initiatives. Notably, she spearheaded the university’s first zero-waste assessment in collaboration with UW Recycling and the Post-Landfill Action Network (PLAN). This assessment was instrumental in crafting a comprehensive plan aimed at steering the UW towards achieving zero-waste. Julie was a recipient of the Husky Green Award for her work on the leadership team as the External Director of the UW’s Green Greek Representative Program. Prior to serving as a Climate Corps Fellow at Ten Strands, Julie worked in community outreach, overseeing a range of admissions and outreach programs.
