Dr. Timothy Baird earned his EdD from the University of Southern California and his MA, administrative credential, teaching credential, and BA from California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Baird recently retired as the superintendent of the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD). Dr. Baird’s retirement capped ten years of service to the EUSD, 16 years of service as a superintendent, and 39 years of service as a public educator. During Dr. Baird’s tenure, Encinitas was a nationally recognized environmental school district earning the California and U.S. Green Ribbon District distinction in 2014. Encinitas has also been recognized for its innovative use of technology, and was one of the first districts in the nation with a one-to-one iPad program starting in 2011. Also, the district's focus on student health and wellness led to the creation of a ten-acre organic farm, which grows produce for school lunches and serves as a student design and research center. EUSD has also received state and national awards for developing learner personalized teaching practices and for its focus on teaching to the whole child. Since retiring, Dr. Baird has remained active as a writer, presenter, and educational leadership consultant. He is a frequent presenter at environmental, technology, and curricular conferences.
