University of California

The University of California (UC) operates 10 campuses and includes more than 280,000 students and more than 227,000 faculty and staff, with 2 million alumni living and working around the world.

The UC’s mission is “to serve society as a center of higher learning, providing long-term societal benefits through transmitting advanced knowledge, discovering new knowledge, and functioning as an active working repository of organized knowledge” through teaching, research, and public service.

Our partnership with UC is to advance PK–12 climate change literacy and environmental justice by focusing on teacher preparation and professional learning. We are proud to work with the UC Office of the President’s Sustainability Office, the California Subject Matter Project administered by UCOP, and UC campuses on the Environmental and Climate Change Literacy Projects to annually graduate 400,000+ California high school students to be literate in climate change and environmental justice issues and solutions.
