Green Guardians is an Oakland-based start-up focused on environmental literacy and action. Ten Strands is providing consulting services for Green Guardians to develop standards-based lesson sequences that will support K–5 teachers to use culturally relevant, local, environmental themes as engaging contexts for teaching science, history-social science, English language arts, and other subjects. Ten Strands, the California Environmental Literacy Initiative (CAELI), and Green Guardians also partnered to build a the CAELI Community-Based Partner Hub connecting California county offices of education and community-based partners in order to increase access to impactful environment-based learning for all of California’s K–12 students.
