Teresa Barnett, CRS executive director, has a passion for providing teachers and students with support and resources, and for building strong collaborations among educators, STEM professionals, and partner organizations. Since 2009, she has led CRS's active participation in local, state, and national networks to strengthen elementary STEM teaching and learning. She also enjoys learning the stories that have been told across time and cultures about the night sky and constellations.

Eric Havel, CRS environmental education and climate literacy coordinator, has over 30 years of teaching experience and accumulated climate change and sustainability education content knowledge. He has significant experience with curriculum development, program delivery, and leading professional development training workshops. He enjoys sharing outdoor education experiences with diverse audiences, ranging from composting and gardening to redwood hikes and citizen science.

Helen Fitzmaurice holds a PhD in Earth and Planetary Science and taught HS Physics and Chemistry. Her scientific focus is quantifying neighborhood-scale emissions of CO2 and PM2.5. As a high school teacher, Helen led her students in an air monitoring campaign in a successful grassroots effort to halt the installation of a crude oil terminal in the neighborhood in which many of her students lived. She has led the OTACA teacher professional collaboration for three years.

Kate Gallagher taught in East and West Oakland for 20 years, teaching 2nd and 3rd grades and K–5 science prep in schools where over 90 percent of students qualified for free or reduced lunch. As a District Science Core Leadership Team member, Lead Science Teacher, and NGSS Early Implementer, she helped Oakland teachers and schools deliver three-dimensional science instruction. She continues to support elementary science through her work with FOSS science, the WestEd K-12 Alliance, and the California Fish and Wildlife Department’s Classroom Aquarium Education Program.
