Samantha Liu
Samantha is a senior at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, California, in the greater Sacramento region. She has been passionate about the environment since sixth grade, ever since learning about the truth of recycling—the poor recycling rates. Since then, the question “So, then what can I do?” has been engraved in her mind, and it has driven her to explore books, YouTube videos, documentaries, and Google to learn more about environmental issues and solutions. With this passion, she founded a nonprofit, onegreenstep.org, with a mission to educate, inspire, and get others involved in helping the environment. Instead of this daunting idea of climate change, One Green Step focuses on what individuals, especially the youth, can do. Being sustainable has become her lifestyle by becoming vegan, shopping only secondhand, and investing in an electric car. Samantha hopes to continue inspiring others to begin their environmental journey with one green step.
