California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) brings together the state’s recycling and waste management programs, and maintains a tradition of environmental stewardship.
CalRecycle’s vision is to inspire and challenge Californians to achieve the highest waste reduction, recycling, and reuse goals in the nation. Through landmark initiatives, California works toward a society that uses less, recycles more, and takes resource conservation to higher and higher levels. Our state leads the nation with an approximately 65% diversion rate for all materials, and today recycling supports more than 140,000 green jobs in California.
We partner with CalRecycle’s Office of Education and the Environment to make the Education and the Environment Initiative Curriculum available to teachers and students throughout California.
Since the beginning of our partnership with CalRecycle, we have distributed over 9,977,550 EEI Curriculum student lessons to over 4,7805 schools in over 780 districts, helping educators teach California state standards using the environment as context.
